Who starts a company in the middle of the worst economy since the depression; not to mention a pandemic? This guy!
Jarrod spent the past 16+ years overseeing marketing campaigns, social strategy and communications for destination marketing organizations in Arizona, California and Oregon. It was in that last state where the unforeseeable (unless you were one of the many experts predicting it) happened: a pandemic.
Dreams of being one's own boss are common, but it's also hard to leave the stability of a steady paycheck and insurance benefits. But sometimes the choice is made for you, and what seems like a setback can actually be a setup for something better.
Shortly after being laid off due to a 75% budget cut, Jarrod had received inquiries into doing some contract work. Never one to ignore an opportunity, a business was born.
The name comes from nearby Mt. Hood, an iconic feature in the Oregon landscape and in Jarrod's life. He spent the past 7 years creating award-winning campaigns promoting the region. It also features heavily in his own photography as well. Since it seemed high-time to make his own business, it only seemed right to name it after his home's highest peak.
It feels so self serving and honestly painful to write, but it's probably important to show that we actually know what we're doing here.
